Purpose Of A Headstone
The primary purpose of a Headstone is to mark the resting place of a beloved family member or friend. Headstones are used as a tribute to the deceased, commemorating a loved one who has passed away. Dating back thousands of years ago many cultures would use some type of identification icon to "mark" a departed member of their clan or tribe. The markers used during this time period were typically small stones piled up or a large rock placed at the foot of the buried deceased In cemeteries around the United States, Headstones are placed at the head of the grave. Today, we use a wide variety of material that can be used for marking the resting place of an individual. Materials commonly found in cemeteries of the 21st century are: Aluminum, Bronze, Granite and Zinc. Each material has features and benefits that are unique to the properties of the metal or stonework being considered.
